The Dalgan river is a beautifully rich limestone stream and an important spawning tributary of the Clare River, which then flows into Lough Corrib before reaching the Atlantic Ocean. It was once a great Salmon and Trout fishery that has suffered from pollution over recent years. This is why it is designated as a catch and release only area by Inland Fisheries Ireland.
With funding from the Community Water Development Fund, Ballyhaunis Tidy Towns in collaboration with the Local Authority Waters Programme produced a video about the Dalgan River. This project aims to raise awareness about water quality issues, our relationship with water and our environment, as well as the importance of citizen scientists’ work.
Let the story and voice of the Dalgan inspire you.
Enjoy the sounds and the music of nature.
We'd like to thank LAWPRO and our Dalgan Monitoring Citizen Science group for their enthusiasm and continued work!
