Moving Ballyhaunis towards zero waste

Ballyhaunis Tidy Towns received a grant from the Community Foundation to develop a Local Circular Economy Plan with support and expertise provided by environment group VOICE.

We intend to develop this plan in 2024, after which our volunteers aim to take the first steps towards implementing the actions identified for our town.

What is zero waste?

On the most basic level, the goal of zero waste is to send no waste to landfill, incinerators and the ocean.

What is a circular economy?

In a circular economy, products and materials are kept in circulation like maintenance, reuse, refurbishment, remanufacture, recycling, and composting.

Workshop

We invite everyone to join an in-person workshop to develop ideas and plans for how our community can work together to reduce waste, promote concepts of reuse, repair, recycle, and build a more sustainable future.
